i'm thinking about shelling out about $100 to upgrade my old 550mhz p3 desktop cpu to 1ghz (socket 370) on my asus cuv4x board...

my specs are 512mb sdram, voodoo3500, soundblaster live value.....

you guys think it'll be a big jump and well worth the money?

Well, for about $120 or so, you can pick yourself up an Athlon1700+ and a Epox Nforce 2 board from newegg... Though you'd have to replace your memory.

It would be a big jump yes, but I don't think its worth the money. If I were you, i'd spend a little extra, and go with a nice Athlon/Nforce2 setup.

You could pick up an 8k3a+ for $60, a tbred for about $50, and a 256mb sick to pc3200 for around $50. Sell the CPU/mobo/ram combo, I bet you could get $75-$100 for it.
