holy sh!t. this is so hot!

BB wants like $2800 alone for a 42in Samsung DLP.

This is very good deal. Wish it had a 2-3 yr warranty but thats about the only downside to this deal.

some comments from a search at www.avsforum.com

I have about 500 hours (3 months) on mine. Don't have HD signal so I've only seen it on DVDs (component input) and SDTV (cable). SD is upgraded to 480p in unit. I've been very happy with it so far. Colors are fantastic. Haven't moved adjustments off default values yet.

Areas of concern are lack of DVI, only 30 day warranty on lamp (but I think most new DLPs only cover 30-90 days so this may be par and besides, you get a free spare lamp), and replacement lamp cost. Best price found so far for replacement lamps is around $700, but another poster says Hitachi is trying to get cost lowered and has also promised parts for seven years. Glare screen has typical issues. Delivery was fantastic. Units ship out of San Diego (Hitachi warehouse)

The Hitachi is a pretty old model. No digital inputs. Based on the HD1 chip, not the HD2 series which the current Samsungs use much less the HD2+ or HD3 in the upcoming Samsungs. If some online stores have it listed for $10-12K, I doubt if they are selling any.

The DLP chip is HD1, so the black level isn't as good as the HD2 chip.
The set has no DVI/HDCP connection.

sorry this ones not the hot deal.
Uecweb is great tho, check this site for the 50v500 or the 60v500 lcd rptvs.
Those are this yrs models are compare very favorably to the sony grand wegas.
The 50 was selling for around 1850 or so, thats close to 500-800 off the best prices ive seen, very hot.

This dlp is a clunker, if you've ever seen these old hd1 models, the blacks are comprable to the current lcds and they suffer from the rainbow effect, a double whammy.

Why do you say this is a clunker? From experience or reviews?

lol, that was me. evidently when you add something to your cart it is immediately taken out of stock. I added everything in their entire stock to my cart, emptying out their store. After my session expired though, everything went back in stock.

there are 20 available
