Does a 55-200mm vs 18-200mm lens have the same REAL magnification (i.e. the actual image captured) when both are set to 200mm?

Or does the zoom work differently?

should be the same at infinity.

iirc, technically magnification is related to macro photography

If you're referring to the image produced when you shoot the same subject with the same camera body, then yes, both lenses will produce identical images if both are on a tripod when the shots are taken.

It varies greatly. Many times, while in focus, 200mm you get on lens A is quite different than what you'd get in lens B. However, it should be identical when the focus is set at infinity.
