3.6 out of a 5400+ is quite a stretch. I heard they can clock to about 3.1, maybe 3.2 if you're lucky. Never seen one that went to 3.6. Get an Intel chip if you want that.

I think the highest common-ish speed I've seen on the 65nm dual core A64's is 3.3GHz. Since it has an unlocked multiplier use that to see how high your chip can go, then start tweaking the HyperTransport speed. That's what I'd probably do anyway.

Don't expect a very high FSB. You will be able to get a much higher overclock by raising the multiplier.

On my 5000+ BE, I can only get a max FSB of 220 with a multiplier of 14 and an overclocked HT speed of 1100. I haven't messed around with different configs that much, but this really gives me the best performance since it runs the RAM at the highest speed I can (440) and the HT speed about as high as can be expected out of an Athlon X2. The RAM speed is also the reason why I keep the multiplier at 14x, as odd and non-integer multipliers result in the motherboard automatically using a different divider that lowers the RAM speed. And I can't overclock that much at a 16x multiplier without raising the Vcore too high - well, without raising higher than I would like. Right now my Vcore is at 1.375 with the processor at 3080 and I'm happy.
