533 MHz FSB CPU on a 800 MHZ FSB MOBO ???

I need to know if it is possible to use a 533 MHz FSB Skt. 478 P4 on a MOBO with 800 MHz FSB support like the ASUS P4GD1 or the P4P800-VM. My friend is planning to get a new MOBO this week. Need to suggest him a good MOBO.

( Any suggestion on choice of MOBO r welcome.)

That depends on the chipsets. I know for a fact that the 875P supports 533 and 800, wheras the 865 line supports 400,533, and 800 mhz. However, some of the newer chipsets (915, perhaps) should work too, as I know that most of the new celerons run on a 533mhz FSB.
Hope this helps.

google? Aparently ZZF, newegg, mwave, monarch as well as many other carry it. Check pricegrabber. Hell, here is a direct link for you...

Oops, that seems to be the p5gd1, my mistake, I'll keep looking...

Well it does depend somewhat on the proccessor. If it's a 533mhz FSB northwood, then it will work on any 800mhz FSB socket 478 motherboard. If it's a prescott it won't work on some of the early revisions of those motherboards, such as my gigabyte 81K1100, it supports 400/533/800mhz fsb, but it's a revision 1 board and does not support prescotts.

I have the Asus P4P800-VM, it's an ok board, no overclocking functions in the bios, but works with clockgen.

Some, though, like the IC7-G, don't. But I know of no mobos that don't support 533 (and support 800)
