Accoding to this PSU Watt Calculator in the AT OC guide.

With Q9550 (3.8Ghz @ 1.3 Volts I guessed) / P5Q Pro P45 / 2 x 2Gb DDR2-1000 / 4870 / 4 fans / 2 hdds / 2 CD drives / 22" LCD / 4 USB devices: My total power consumption would be ~425W so ~510W is recommended.

Which of these would you pick? (Yes I insist on modular)

Modu82+ 525W for $88 after $20 MIR
Modu82+ 625W for $120.40 after $20 MIR

Or

Corsair 520HX for $110.25
Corsair 620HX for $152.78

All 4 have great reviews. I think the Modu82+ are newer.

Thanks

I would go with the higher wattage, you never know what GPU you want to update too later on, to be on the safe side of course!

Never heard of the Modu82 brand so really don't know anything about their build or output quality.

Corsair, however, makes top notch units. Either of those models should work nicely, the 620W model might be better since you intend to have lots of "extras" in your case drawing current.

I would go with the corsair. They have high quality PSUs. Get the 620w if you are going to go SLI in the future, otherwise 520 should do okay.

I am running the corsair myself. But the new Modus are top notch in efficiency. For the price, I'd pick the Modu 625. Other than that any of these would be more than sufficient to run your rig. In fact, check Corsair's website -- the 520 watt is good enough to run an OCed Quad + HD 4870 X2

Reminds me of the 4850 Preview here on Anandtech. Anand and Derek Wilson claimed that a 1000W psu is insufficient to run 4850s in Crossfire. Because one of the 1000W psu failed, they jumped to that conclusion and then completed the test with a 1200W unit from a different make.

Derek then went on to defend his position in the comments section and said the 1kw units are not enough for 4850s in Crossfire (not just that they had a turd unit).

I was surprised at that reasoning considering the general quality of this website.
