5200-DVT vs Xpert 128 - a strange question?

Hello, and apologies for the newbieness. I have a question for which I could not find an answer or a hint in the articles, forums or FAQs on this (or any other) site.

I am updating core elements (board, chip, memory, case and video) of my current K6/2-450 system, and plan on keeping everything else, including the Win98SE OS and, for now, the old 15" SVGA monitor. The video card I have is an ATI Rage 128 XPert, which would not work in the A7N8X-X board I'm leaning towards. I also want video editing capabilities, yet still indulge in some games now and then - though no FPS or intensive fare such as those used as benchmarks on this site. (I tend towards simpler games, or racing, though eventually a flight sim or two.)

My question is: would a card like the MSI GeForce FX 5200-DVT be able to do everything my XPert 128 can for more laid-back gaming? I can't seem to be able to do a straight comparison as all the technical parameters themselves differ, much less their values.

I know this site said it's not "a card fit for gaming", but I'm not quite as hardcore in my requirements as many here. :) The major elements in issue are budget, and a complete lack of need of TV capture; all I'm interested is video/audio in and out. Hence I've not looked much at any All-In-Wonders, none of which are priced accessibly for me plus the plethora of features I'm not interested in.

I would think it could outperform such an antiquated card easily, but careful research and reading of detailed articles have not assuaged my fears. Or else I can't see a reasonable, cheap alternative, even in a AGP4x card, which I know would be just as good as 8x. I have learned a thing or two while reading. :) I intend to keep my system for probably the same four years I've had mine, so stability is key.

Thank you for your time.

As bad as we may make it out to be, a FX5200 will demolish your Xpert128.

Edit

Check this link out. Your board is based on the Rage128Pro chipset, you can see how it stacks up to a FX5200. SS:SE your card hit 19.4FPS while the 64bit FX5200(the slowest you can buy) was @68.8FPS as an example.

Thank you for the confirmation and the link. I've never seen a vivo card pitted against non-vivo cards, though, but I gather the 5200 is already "crippled" enough to not really matter at this point, since all I'm looking for is a performance increase from ancient tech... (You'd think someone using computers since 1983 should have figured this, but I do know enough to never assume outright and always seek confirmation. :))

Now if I could find other low-end VIVO cards that don't have a TV tuner, so I could compare...

With any nVidia based board it shouldn't matter and IIRC it doesn't make a difference with current ATi boards either.
