It looks like a good TV, does it sport 120hz? If that matters to you...

My biggest concern is service after the sale after having seen friends burned alive by Vizio and Olevia customer non-service. Is Westinghouse better? It is the out of warranty service that make me choose a brand with an established service network. The difference in the price here could easily be eaten up by shipping costs, depending on what Westy charges. And, with shipping, it seems that any repair, even a $5 switch will cost you $350-400 minimum.

Westinghouse

If the set is purchased from Best Buy it must be returned to the store for warranty service regardless of the size of the TV, according to the Westinghouse customer service department. If purchased elsewhere, Westinghouse customer service must be called to determine if the set is in need of factory service. Westinghouse will issue a return authorization if they determine factory services is needed and it will pay the freight both ways if the TV was purchased within the last 90 days. From 90 days to the end of the one-year warranty, the consumer must pay the return freight and supply the original packaging or a suitable equivalent. Westinghouse does not sell replacement cartons and packing. Out of warranty service is available locally in *select markets* according to its customer service department. If there is no local factory authorized servicer in your area, the set owner must pay the freight both ways and the cost or repair parts and labor, which will be determined after Westinghouse receives and examines the malfunctioning television.

The *select markets* is troubling...if there's no tech, then you ship it back...

And, at the 91 day point you eat all shipping costs? Egh.

This info may be out of date as the report was done last year. Anyone have an update - is Westinghouse supported in your area?

Westinghouse has a reputation for customer service that is beyond horrible.

60Hz is old technology and is going to be cheaper than 120Hz, which is the latest and greatest.

Costco gives 2 years no questions warranty, so why bother about manufacturer's one? 120Hz refresh is cool, however it is hyped, just to push consumer to upgrade older LCD.

2 year s goes by fast, you don't want ot be out $1500 in two years. And, you have costco's warranty wrong. They do not give a a 2 years 'no questions asked' on TVs. They extend the manufacturer's warranty. But, Buy a Westy there and 91 days laters you still are under the crappy Westy warranty.

120hz tv should look smoother in motion due to the 24fps recording of movies..

I'm not sure how many people will actually be able to notice, but basically it comes down to the fact that 24fps fits in to 120hz much better than on a 60hz.

It seems to help the look of Standard Def also...
