52" LCD and x1950pro = Flashing/Flickering

I just moved my 52" Toshiba into the den yesterday and have it hooked up to a spare computer.

Running XP pro and the lastest cat drivers (8.8) and I still get this "Flickering" or "Flashing"...
When I start a game, it gets REALLY Bad.

I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable (from Monoprice).

Has anyone experienced this when hooking your computer up to an HDTV before?

The TV has a D-Sub hookup, but my video card only had DVI outputs (don't they all now-a-days though..)

Any setting changes I can do in the control panel that might resolve this?

Thanks

Edit: I'd also like to know if this is going to damage my TV?

SO YOU KNOW.... The TV works just fine when I change it over to my Direct TV receiver.... so there is nothing wrong with the TV.

Play with the display settings. You'll have to figure out what the native resolution of the screen is and get that set right. Considering the size of the screen there is a good chance that your card will have trouble supporting that resolution.

Physical size of the screen means nothing. What resolution is the card attempting to display? What is the screen's native resolution (possibly 1366x768, 1280x720 or somesuch)?

It's a 1080p tv.

I can set the refresh rate to 60 but it doesn't seem to help.

It's kind of difficult to explain the issue it is having. It isn't a steady flicker. It's rather violent at times, especially when I launch a video game.

The other day I could play LOTRO and it wasn't "too" bad. Now I can't play it at all... screen just goes heywire.

I'll try to play with the settings some more.
