OK I have a quick question for all out there regarding a possible bad panel on my LCD tv.
I have a toshiba regza 52 inch that recently started getting artifact on the right 1/3 to 1/2 of the screen.
it doesn't matter what input (HDMI 1-3, Component) or what source (DVD, DVR, Cable).
I could go a day without it but once it starts it is pretty frequent.
As stupid as this sounds...if it is on 1 channel...it might be constant...change to another channel and it clears up...go back to original channel and it goes constant.
The warranty is under squaretrade...so I put in a claim and had a guy call earlier.
He isn't even going to come out after getting the above description...basically said it is the panel and that it is at a minimum 2,000 dollars to fix (TV only cost me 1,200 2 years ago).
I asked him how he could be sure that it was the panel and not something else...
He mentioned some unit that DRIVES the panel...but if it was that it would be 1/2 of the screen all the time.
I was fine at this point until I asked him if he knew where one could dispose of a bad TV (recycling center...etc...)
Without missing a beat he said he would take it off my hands from me (almost like would take it and fix it if it was something else and keep it).
SO...I ask if there is ANY way to commonly diagnose a bad panel or if I just get the warranty money and go and get a different TV...
Thanks in advance,
Lee
