Get your normal work flow up and running (apps, games, etc.) and check the size of swap. Make your minimum swap size just a little more than what you are using with a full load.

I'm thinking going up to 512mb on win98.
So, does it mean I'll be better with adding the conservative swap file line?

I've heard Win98 won't show much of a performance difference with any more than 128MB of ram...

as the reason why you should search before posting because that conservative line seems to HURT your performance

Horse hockey I say!!! I've been using this setting for about a week now, and it is outstanding!!!

I went back to letting win98 manage the swap. I only have 256MB and I have yet to see a swapfile, so with 512 you shouldn't have a problem.
