512MB PC3200 Kingston HyperX $65AR @outpost.com

Just yesterday or so the ram was for $70 with a $10 rebate which still made it $80 without the rebate. Still good stuff if you buy it.

OMFG I hate the world 🙁. I ordered this RAM pretty late last night, when there was no f*ing rebate!!
Do you think that because I ordered after store hours they will honor the rebate for me?

I noticed that too. I called up outpost.com and they couldn't figure it out either. How lame hahaha. If you do look on the rebate though the model number is correct.

It's a common deal, they won't give you the rebate money. They will ship you refurb RAM too probably, happened last time.

Are you sure? How do you know? I'm interested in buying this, but if they send you refurbed and no rebate, then forget it. Uh, wait..., how would you know, if your Rig only has SDRAMs? 🙂

IF the memory you receive is a refurb, it'll come in a clear memory container. The heatspreader will also have scratches on it and the UPC barcode will not match the one on the rebate form.

There's a chance that if you get the refurb, you may get bh5 ICs, but I can't validate that. I got a refurb stick the last time, and the most I could pump out of that particular memory was 230mhz with 2-2-2-1t timings @ 3.3 volts....it was crappy bh5 or not bh5 at all.

Thanks, the reason I was wondering was its listed as KHX3200A/512 and I got KHX3200A/512R. Does the R at the end make it different? Or is it the same thing? I thought the R might be for refurbed.

Most likely it is in a clear plastic container that they send to you, no Kingston mention on the container..most got refurb, some of us got lucky and got the real stuff last time..Good luck, but don't expect the rebates since I called Kingston and she said you must get the ValueRAM if that what it is..they will send you a UPC that doesn't match up.

um dont let this guy scare you away from this deal, i got in on it about 2 months ago and received brand new in sealed kingston box with a upc that exactly matched the rebate form. i just picked up another today so that i can run them dual channel. all the new or refurbished bh5s are long gone, they ran out of those in october.

if you try to get the rebate and it doesn't work you should take it up with the better business bureau and im sure they will force fry's to reimburse you. its plain to see that the rebate says value ram while the part numbers suggest hyperx, but fry's/outpost is marketing this as if you buy hyperx you will get $15 back and that's what i would worry about. if they are marketing it and know you have no shot at getting the rebate, its false advertising and something that the BBB doesn't take lightly! one way or another, you SHOULD get your rebate!

My Rig:
700mhz + 256mb PC100 Ram
GeForce 2 64mb + 19 in. monitor (Yay!)
16x CD-ROM (No Lies) + Win 98!
AIM: NVisionH

hehe, 19th century rig owner talking crap about state of the art memory.... go away more on

I just bought this @ Fry's Electronics. $10 more, but no shipping charge and I get it today.

I'm going to take it back. It wouldn't post @ 2-3-2-6, which it is spec'd.

I ran AIDA32 and it said:
Highest CAS Latency: 2.5 (5.0ns @ 200MHz)
2nd Highest CAS Latency: 2.0 (6.0ns @ 166MHz)

I'm still interested in what chips this stick has though.
Serial Number: 433A35DDh
Manufacture Date: Week 48 / 2004
Does this tell me anything? I can't remove the heat spreaders if I'm going to take them back.
