I remember in Windows 98 SE, it was kind of pointless to go beyond 128MB memory since Windows 98 SE would just mismanage the memory anyways. I was wondering if this was true for Windows Millenium? I was thinking about getting another 256MB since memory prices are kind of cheap right now.

well, it appears the 512MB bug affects the 9x kernel which ME also uses.

Yeah windows ME has the same poor memory management as the others like win 98se,98,95. Win 2k has a really nice memory managemengt though.

what do you do to require more than 256mb? gaming certainly wouldn't. doing normal stuff, you won't often see any benifits to 512mb ram in ME.

but if you do stuff like 3D/video editing, yeah, 512 would be nice. plenty of 512mb users saying it does fine.

I want to get another 256mb since memory prices are cheap right now and I'm probably gonna stick with this system for a while and skip DDR systems. I'm hoping 512MB will tide me over until there is something better then DDR comes along.
