Can a 512mb 7950GT play games like dark messiah and oblivion on max settings on a 19" widescreen?

At 1440x900? I wouldn't say max settings, but with a bit of tweaking you should be able to manage relatively high settings with a little AA/AF, provided the rest of your system is up to snuff.

Well 1440x900 is more or less like 1280x1024 (actually its less pixels) so I'd say yeah, definitely max (or near max, you may need to turn off a useless "high end" feature or two) with some pretty acceptable AA/AF levels.

From my personal experience, 2X AA is all you need at 1280x1024 on a 19" monitor. (well 1440x900 on your case)
