512MB 7800GTXs in stock at Tiger Direct, newegg, and ActBuy

No right forum, it's a hard to find video card that some people want.

If the Video forum can survive prelaunch sights of X1800XTs, it can survive this.

I was just teasing anyways, peace

That eVGA is almost tempting... $750 would make a nice chunk towards a G71 step-up, plus you'd have a sweet card while you wait.

Interesting that these are starting to show up. Newegg has the XFX and eVGA in stock as well.

Likely that a nice chunk is understating it. Don't think the G71 is going to be a price monster like the 512MB GTX is (my opinion, anyway).

Hope some people go ahead and pick up on the cards, though, especially those eVGA ones.

Typical of you. Calling a thread about a rare card starting to show up in stock a catalyst for a flame war.

How many times have you seen the 512GTX called a "Phantom Edition"? (besides the 327 times you said it)

Well, here they are, in stock at three e-tailers.

As noted, $750 will probably go a LONG way toward a 7900GTX on EVGAs step up program. So with EVGA you get lifetime warranty, comparable performance overall, and the option to step up to next gen without a loss.

Not bad.

You're probably right about the price, and that is one of the reasons the eVGA is almost tempting. I don't think that eVGA will give you a refund or a credit if your step-up card is actually less than the card than the one you currently have. I'm also not sure if they would spread out your $750 across a G71 SLI set.

Howso, all he did was post links to a few in stock GTX 512's @ MSRP...?

If anyone "struck a match" here it was you.

thats an interesting scenario nitro. i wonder how they would handle that as imo the 7900 will be priced less as well.

IIRC, they actually won't let you trade up, if the product you're buying is less expensive than the one you have in hand (stupid, I know, but that's what I recall hearing). Someone who's dealt with eVGA on this before would know better.

I have before. When I stepped up to GTX KO's from GTX's. At the time the KO's were $.99 cheaper. 😛 I called and asked if I could but they said no...so I applied for the step-up anyway and it got accepted. 🙂 Go figure. I wouldn't chance it though.

Wow, why would people even bother to pay for a card that is not the fastest anymore?
Oh, and that it will go away in about a month or two when the G71 shows up. (probably at around $599)

Get the X1900 XTX or just wait for the G71!
