I need some advice on how much ram to purchase...

I will be getting my e1505 soon and it comes with 512MB of RAM, i was planning on buying another gig, but if i would get more performance running DC, then i would just get another stick of 512MB.

I will not be doing any intensive gaming.

this is the RAM i was looking at. (1 GB)

or this (512MB)

if i go Dual channel, do the sticks have to be identical or just the same speed and size?

No intensive gaming eh? So you should be fine with just 1g total for a while. If you go dual channel, it is BEST to have identical Ram from speed, model, manufacturer down to revision. Otherwise, your system might not boot or you'll have to run it at slower speeds like me (DDR400 @ DDR333🙁). If you get teh 1g to add to 512, you MIGHT have compatibility issues. It will be in single channel, but your memory controller might not like the mixing. Good luck.
