512k L2 cache for PentiumIII mobil...how true is this?

I just sawthis page a moment ago. Look closer, it says 512k L2 on-chip cache...since it's on-chip, I assume it runs at the same speed as the core does. WOW...is this really true? 512k L2 cache running at 1Ghz?? Wouldn't this outperform desktop PentiumIII? (of course, I know there is Pentium IV...and of course, I know compaq is evil)

My Dell Inspiron 4100 uses the PIII866Mhz Mobility (.13 Micron Speed Step Intel CPU). It has 512KB of L2 Cache.

It's true. The .13u Tualatin core PIII's are available in both 256KB and 512KB L2 cache versions.

Its certainly faster than desktop versions

If it is the PIII-M series, it gets 512KB L2 onboard. See the overview page here.
