510 horse kits out for the GTO!!!!

You're going to have to put a lot of six packs in the trunk just to keep the the rear end planted.

That's unreal.
 
Bah... boost that SOB. Big blower or a couple of nice turbos that tuck on each side of the GTO.
That 510hp kit looks like just a fancy head added onto your standard Intake/Exhaust/Headers package... oh and Oooo, I forgot the computer tuning. :roll:

It should be like buying mods for any Chevy motor... there will soon be stuff from everything and everyone.
 
Don't roll your eyes too much @ computer tuning because on some vehicles it can make a significant difference.
But it doesn't seem like the 510HP package would cost more than a couple grand... you'll probably pay a bit of a premium for it right now though since the GTOs are so new.

See, you're lick Joe sixpack car owner. Adding power doesn't always mean "Oh lets boost this, or add NAWZZZZ." There is a lot of power to be had from that LS1 motor, that does not require the use of a super/turbocharger. You can, fairly easily, turn a LS1 in to a LS6, and then some. Those Chevy small blocks have a shitload of potential in them.

I feel like such a kill joy asking this, but what does this do for emissions output?

When my '02 Z28 starts feeling a little tired I'm either going to dump a ton of money into it or move up to a Z06, but it sounds like we're getting tailpipe testing again here in Detroit.

But if you're spending thousands upon thousands for just head work and possibly more for labor? That's BS... yeah, you can do better with a simple boltons and I don't think there's anything wrong with a simple blower kit or even a simple nitrous setup. And if you REALLY want big power, you really are going to have a tough time matching a forced induction setup though I'm well aware that the LS1 is insanely easy to get power out of.

I know that computer tuning can make a big difference in some cases... but I don't think you should charge a friggin arm and leg for flashing a programmable ECU. They make it seem like it's some big snot... when you can probably add a piggyback computer and get similar or even better results.

For me, I HATE overpriced "tuning"... but be my guest and spend $24k+ on your Lingenfelter setup when you're being annhilated by some shmuck that decided to custom-build a blower setup from the ground up for less money.

You sure the LS2 has 3 valves? I think it still only has 2, and there will be a 3 valve option later. The LS2 makes 400HP stock.

Will have to look it up again, been a while.

In one configuration it makes 400 stock - granted it was underratted a bit in a some of the vehicles it has been in but when you are only changing the things that the vette did better how do you expect to top the vette so much?

I dont think the first package is capable of 510 hp. I think its similiar to exhaust companies claiming a 15 hp gain for your civic if you use their muffler. Dynos always show otherwise. I wonder if we can find someone who has had this already done to their vehicle and see what it puts down real world.

LS2 is bigger, 6.0 liters ( I wish they would have made it 396ci.), what is the base setup horsepower-wise? Can't be much less output than the top of the line LS1.

I do not think hp claims are out of line.

A bit? I'd be willing to bet that the 510hp package would cost you at least $7-8k. So you take a relatively obscure, overweight, nondescript $35k muscle car and add $8k to the cost and you're easily over $43k. Hmm, no thanks.

Theres a limited slip kit out but the people who run the kit dont need it. Defenetally wont need it for the 05's. They have totally eliminated wheel hop.

Its an LS6 that makes 405HP in the Z06. The LS1 in the C5 pushes about 350hp, In the Camaro SS', 325hp.

The LS2 in the new 2005 GTO/C6 makes 400hp.

The LS2 is brand new.
It is its been dynoed. I have one dyno graph and one mpeg of a customer's car on a dyno. Watch the vids on there site. That looks and feels like 510 hp to me.
