Delta 50X CD-ROM, after MIR $20. I cannot find it on their web page, so I got it from our local store.

Staples has some software titles free after rebate also. So if you buy this CD-ROM ($40) and buy at least one software, and if your B&M accept coupon, you can get this CD-ROM free, or even get paid.

Here's some details about the CD-ROM. Since I never heard this Delta brand before, I read all labels carefully. It's a Taiwan company, and the driver was made in China. (My Memorex CD-ROM was made in China too.) The tray and tray-cover sound and look like very cheap plastic. However, it is very quiet to operate. But it seems slower than my 40X Memorex. Maybe sb. can banchmark and confirm that. I have a CD-R disk (same brand as the 99c package in BestBuy online last week), which Memorex had problems to read some files. Delta reads it with no problem. And my Memorex reads it fine now, so I don't know.

:p Senior Member should know more about Staples coupons than me.

Software is free after rebate, so no coupon needed. To make the CD-ROM free, here's an example.

CD-ROM $40
Software $10
coupon 20 off 50

Total: $30 + tax

Mail in rebate: CD-ROM $20 + software $10 = $30

So you will get everything free after rebate, except tax.

Mod is so kind to allow me to put my link in my sig file. So I will follow the rule not posting the coupon code here.

I can not find the mouse on there site and we ALL know you are unable to use a web coupon in your local B&M. I know some of you can try and get away with it but it is against there policy to accept the coupons in store!

I don't know Staples' policy, but I know B&M and online do share at least some coupon codes. Some coupon codes were printed on their fly, if you pay attention.

And there are fields to input coupon code in the computer when you check out at B&M Staples.

Cybahell and Whitemouse if you think i am wrong about the policy with the B&M stores accepting coupon codes from .com why don`t you al call 1-800-3STAPLES and ask them what policy is. You could say the I DO know what is going on with Staples and i am verrrry aware off all of their policies. I am not saying that some store do not still accept the coupon codes but they are not suppose to and the store will get a coupon chargeback.

Staples will price match online competitors and they will price match INCLUDING MIR...so my argument in the store was if they would do it with another entity then they should do it within their own company... and a coupon is better than an MIR. Actually, I have never tried to price match another competitor's coupon but have been successful with the PM's of the MIR

My Staples manager explained about the coupon chargeback but that he would take care of me. Gosh, I ALMOST felt guilty using that coupon in the B&M.

Unless you work for Staples in management, I am not sure you know what their exact policy is at this time. Do they really do a chargeback or are we just told that. We should all know by now we will be told anything and everything when talking to an employee of Staples.

As I said, I really don't know how Staples works. But all my online orders were passed to our local P&M Staples. And it is our local P&M who charged my CC and deducted CC (Coupon Code;)).

So
  • online to local P&M
  • go directly to P&M

What's the diff?

I think you mean B&M store (brick and mortar). Mine is just that..... except for where the tractor trailor keeps knocking out the bricks.

Now, if only Staples could keep their web site running!

I had a hard drive problem once. I needed a replacement fast, so I called the local store and asked if they would accept coupons. He said yes. I went down there and got the HD and he asked for the coupon. I had a piece of paper with several codes on it. He said, oh I thought you had an actual coupon. I said I got it off the internet. He said, sure I'll take it. So I pushed my luck and asked if he would honer the free case of printer paper with a $50 purchase. Got it too. I left feeling guilty.
It made me like staples though. I buy a lot from them now.

to use web coupons at B&M, you have to wisper the coupon numbers to the cashier. Don't just say "I have a coupon." They will ignore you because they don't want other people to hear you in the store or else everyone in the whole store uses the numbers. You have to wisper the numbers.
