I picked up a 320g Buffalo external HD, it works good. Only had it about a month.

It won't matter for an external. If you are looking to take it out and use it as an internal, that's a different story...

Most of you know this, but it does have an internal sata interface, but just a USB link to the PC. So it's not a eSATA external drive. I think they put that sata in the description to fool some people into thinking that it's a eSATA. Sata internal interface does help the speed just a tad, but nothing like eSATA speeds

My Buffalo 500GB has a Samsung inside. It's almost the same model, except it also has firewire.

you probably saw the firewire+usb version
the boxes are almost identical!

the usb version might have been on a pallet in the middle of a walkway instead of on the shelf.

I was at Fry's (Bayarea) and it was 109.99. They also had the Seagate 320GB FreeAgent external drive with 5 year warranty for 79.99.

I bought 4 of these to do weekly backups on my server. One identified itself as a Samsung drive, the other 3 identified as Western Digital 500AAKS models. All 4 are now reformatted NTSF and working well.

now theres an acom 500gb usb2.0/firewire 400 for 119 at frys. its enclosure is much smaller, so it relies more on heatsinking i guess.
shopping for the firewire cable it seems frys got beat out by.... target:p the 3 in 1 belkin firewire cable with two mini plug adaptors was 20 at frys, 15 at target:p
