I just did a search before replying to a thread in ForSaleTrade Forum about XBox on Ebay. 10,000 posts (3757 for "X Box" and 6177 for "XBox" = nearly 10,000) on XBox. At least half of those were for the system. That's 5000 XBox Systems on Ebay alone.

Some auctions are ending about $300-350, if that. Poor guys are making nothing!:)

With that price range, I agree w/ you that people aren't making that much off this system, perhaps supply IS better than demand. I don't think that people are trying to get rid of thier "defective" X-Boxes, because if they were, they would just return them to the store they brought them from. Maybe last year's PS2 shortage feuled this year's auctions? I'm not sure, just a few ideas.

I just saw an Xbox auction end at $305 (reserve not met). I guess people aren't cashing in, like they thought they would.

All these people (most of probably teenagers) saw the PS2 frenzy from last year and saw that in the first few days PS2s were selling around a thousand dollars. Others still made a good profit. This is because of a huge demand and not enough supply. Thus many people were still having trouble getting one for a decent price a month after its release.

Now these people heard this story from news everywhere and they are thinking, hey of course the same thing will happen with the Xbox!! Uhhh right, one of Microsoft's goals was to prevent the same shortage from happening. And thus Ebay is flooded with em with many people making no profit at all.

stso, that was a bundle like phatcow said. The System alone is only going for about Retail Pricing right now. Poor scalpers!!

was the gamecube expecting a shortage? it seems many bidders on ebay are paying over 300 for them, with no bundled games. or is this just further proof that most buyers on ebay aren't the sharpest knives in the world?

I think we've figured this one out a while back. Come on, people are buying links and X-shaped boxes.
