I think that is the point of their post. For $5000, you can get pretty much top of the line anything you want.
I guess I'm in the minority here. I really don't like these ultrawide monitors. People complained about 4:3 requiring you to look up and down to see the whole picture, but with these ultrawides, for a typical desktop setup, you'll be slightly scanning left to right.1. LG 38inch ultra wide 1600p monitor to start it off. ~$1,400
Yeah, I'd say you're paying too much for something. Probably the PSU for starters. But it's hard to tell without individual prices listed. Why don't you try pcpartpicker.com set on Newegg only?ROFL, EVO SSD in a $5K build and an old arse HAF X case. I'd sell the giftcard for $4500, build a $1500 system and pocket the cash.
Done!Smaller font would be nice
Do you have a $5,000 giftcard and are looking to build an actual PC or do you just want to see what we can come up with for five grand? What case would you recommend?
There are no quantities listed but it would have to be multiple for the rest of that to reach over $4,000. That or they are just using Google to search for parts and are picking the first ones they come up with. Even that monitor is only listed at $700 so something is way off about the price.edit: i'm not exactly sure what's overpriced in the ginormous bold build above, but if that computer is $4800 something is wrong. though 1080tis $1200 now, maybe it's SLI and i didn't notice?
A ThreadRipper build with only 16GB of memory doesn't look right. What are you planning on doing that you need or can use 16c/32t but not more memory? Oh you should get a larger SSD, like 2TB.Here's what I came up with:
G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Intel Z170 / Z270 / Z370 / X299 Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-16GTZ
