For $5000? 3D Studio Max and Lightwave, some training materials and maybe a 6800GT for my A64 rig if there were any money left over. And a pizza. :)

A good S939 rig(say an 3800+, 6800GT, 1 GB of RAM, etc), then I'd spend the $3500 left on something useful.

What we are trying to say is that $5,000 is too much for a PC...

do you have 5k to give me? :)

I would get some nice displays (Dual 2001fp's perhaps), Nice high quality speakers (probally midrange home theater with that budget) and get a decent system (a64, 6800ultra, etcetc). Then stick in three PVR-250's and let the tv flow endlessly :)

newegg wish list ~ $4600
this fan in the back of the case
original rear fan in the front of the case
this fan on the processor with one of these to adjust the fan speed
psu noise killer
and for the front and rear fans
and sleeving for what little unruly cabling might exist inside.

This would fit my specific needs of course. decent gaming card with vivo (silent zalman heatsink to add to it), 5.1 surround sound, 21" LCD panel with 25ms response time, uber quiet case and system with more than adequate air cooling, 800GB Raid-0 SATA array, 2GB of pc3200, Athlon FX53 (I didn't spend too much time on the mobo, just realized it's a kt800, I'd really rather have this mobo, and a high quality photo scanner.
given the money, I could quickly build best bang for the buck scenarios. :D

i would buy/build the comp i am building NOW, eg. socket 939 Nforce, maybe add some money for SLI - AMD 3500/3800....

and use the rest of the money for a GIANT TV/monitor.

No need to spend $5000 on a computer

Duallie rig with 6800Us/GTs in SLI and as big an LCD (or two) as I could afford with what was left.
