I have about $500 and I need everything...basically, I have no PC parts at all. So I need a case, ram, cpu, video card, motherboard, hard drive, cd-rom, psu, monitor, soundcard, keyboard/mouse, speakers etc. I would like the fastest and best pc possible for this amount of money and the fact I need to buy almost EVERYTHING.

I do NOT need an amazing/good video card...this is a NON-GAMING PC and I do NOT need an Operating System like Windows, I already have that. This PC will be for home application use mostly.

Can someone please make/post me the very best PC for around $500? remember this is from scratch, I need almost everything besides an OS.

go to walmart, and get a Compaq Athlon X2 complete setup for under $500... Then format it immediately, and install fresh Windows on it. Honestly that is what I would do if I had no parts to work with.. Or I'd try to mooch a case and PSU off of a friend to save some dough, then go newegg wish-list crazy

Since you don't need to buy an OS this should be doable. $50 for an Athlon64 X2 3600+, $50 for a motherboard w/integrated video, $50 for 2x1GB memory, quality case/PSU for $75, $50 HDD, $25 ODD, $25 for cheap keyboard/mouse/speaker combo. Leaves $200 for the monitor, which should buy you a pretty decent one. If you can live with a basic 17" or 19" you're looking at probably $125-150 for the monitor and could afford to get a motherboard with more integrated features, larger HDD, higher quality peripherals, etc.

I don't know what all you plan to do with the system, but it doesn't sound like you need a video card. The only reasons a non-gamer would need a video card is (1) running multiple displays or an ultra high res display or (2) H.264/VC-1 decoding acceleration. It doesn't sound like you'll be doing either of these, so integrated video should be adequate.
