Thanks for all reviews, updates and help.

your motherboard will not support your ram speed. it can only support 1333mhz and 1066mhz and you are using 1600mhz ram.

if you plan on overclocking, i suggest you get an aftermarket cpu cooler : get the hyper 212 evo. im not sure if it can fit in your mini case, but if it cannot, you might want to spend 10$ more to get a cheap watercooling. they take less space and cool better than hyper 212 evo.

I'd be half tempted to go with a FX 6350 combo for $130 or the FX 6300 combo for $110 and spend some more on the video card but I'm a bit of a video card nut. The HD 7790 is perfect if you just want to spend $100.

Already ordered the CPU and GPU so no changing it now, and im happy with it anyway.

As for the motherboard and RAM - any recommendations for under around $50-60 that has similar features and quality but has 1600 ram support?

Also, will everything here fit?

WAH, dat combo. i want it lol.

its not possible to order from microcenter if youre in canada, right?D:
If you don't live near one, or know someone who will act as a proxy for you, you can't get those combo deals.

IMO, for the OP's budget, and with no re-usable parts, OCing should be out of the question. The cost to be able to effectively OC can get another speed grade of CPU, or double the memory.

The i5-3570k CPU/MB combo is just awesome @ $205 which is very close to your original parts. If you get near $200 (CPU/MB) you might as well get the i5.

Also I replaced the HDD with:
samsung evo 120 gb SSD - how to adjust

build/mobo for it?

thinking about upgrading to this for renewed needs:

Not sure what you mean about the SSD?

An SSD plugs in same as normal HD. You might want a 2.5 to 3.5 inch adapter for physical mounting.

No. If you can't go to $70, unless there's a really good combo or other sale that takes enough off to make it that, your best bet will be a 1x4GB stick for $40, of which there are several. I couldn't find any sufficiently good combos on 8GB to get it under $66, but I'm hardly infallible. But, IMO, 1x8GB is the way to go, if possible, else 1x4GB (2x4GB is consistently more than 1x8GB, ATM). I don't get how people are standing 4GB, personally.

None, really. But, what's the price?

AFAIK, that's a fair cheaper than the Evo, which matters on your budget, and I think it would be wise to steer clear of the Kingston (the cheapest, ATM), now that we know they are basically bait & switching. You could get a $5 2.5"->3.5" adapter, if you want, though.

1) Big concern, will this PC be quiet enough in my room to sleep with? It'll be on 24/7. Its pretty important and that case has great cooling with mesh/openness but also b/c of that it will be pretty noisy? How do I adjust? I'm used to a laptop at night - inspiron 1520 (old lol).

2) Will I be able to overclock to max safe long run level for the CPU with this mobo? IF not, any suggestions for price to performance ratio mobo/cooling option alternatives?

Doubt it, if not sleeping. A case that isn't open, and can isolate and dampen drives, and absorb some noise from fans, will help a lot.

If you want quiet and OCing, I don't think you have the budget, honestly. You have the budget for a cheap loud OCed box.

Considering the CPU is already purchased, those parts won't make for bad performance for the money, but quietness will be a problem. I don't have time to look right now, but a used/refurb Gateway or Dell XPS with a 2nd or 3rd gen Core i5 might do just as well, for the money, and not be so loud (but also will not OC at all).

Okay lets compromise, how about NO OC but stock running speeds and quiet, any options? Its very important to have the sound low for sleep in my room 24/7

To be honest, I think your build is already screwed up from a gaming point of view. You should have spent less on the CPU (FX-6300) and more on the GPU (7870 2GB).

As for noise, the main thing that you can do is get an aftermarket HSF with a quieter fan like the Gelid Tranquillo and convert the case fans to run from the fan controller build into the motherboard (4-pin to 3-pin adapter x2, 3-pin Y x1).

CPU vs GPU I'm fine with that, knew that when I was starting, its for a particular set of games that draws on CPU more than GPU.

The noise part - seems technical, but is it simple to do? Any simple instructions? Do I need to buy pins?

Thanks
