Not yet, I've been googling but no one has one yet, haha.

Yeah. But they're up to 320gb in the 7200rpm speeds now. And the newer 5400rpm drives are supposed to have performance pretty close to the 7200rpms of yesterday...

I wonder what would happen if I stuck a 2.5" 300gb Velociraptor in our MacBook...

Yea, I initially bought a 320 GB 5400rpm drive for the space, and then I felt like I wasn't getting the speed I needed, so I grabbed a 200 GB 7200rpm drive. There's next to no difference between the two. Maybe a few millisecs here and there, but overall, my programs were launching just as fast on the 320GB as they are on the 200GB.

I think I'm going to breakdown and grab that HDD, but I still would like to see some tests performed with it.. hmm.. I'll give it another week or so.

Ooh, 500GB, that would let me carry most of my stuff with me at all times instead of having to dump it off to my desktop or to externals.... and $200 is a stupidly good price for that much capacity.

I know.. that's what I'm struggling with. I could have all my video, photos, music, and work on one place. No more need for my 2.5" accompanying drive that I always carry with me.

I think I'm just going to pull the trigger.

What's the warranty? I have searched high and low throughout the eWiz, and Samsung, site and I don't see any mention of how long the man. warranty is... hmm..

EDIT: According to OWC it only has a 1 yr warranty, which is pretty weak. :(

My MacBook Pro has a failing hard drive. I was going to get a 320 for $120, but I think I'll save a little longer and go with this one.

Ok.. I got this things switched out. Had some issues cloning the drive. Not sure why but it just caused a lot of issues, but I've gotten them squared out.

The speed seems identical to the 7200 rpm drive that I used to have, but I haven't run any concise tests on the new drive, which I'll try to do soon.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. Plus I can have a full BootCamp partition to run my games, and have PLENTY of space left for OS X, and all my video and audio needs. This was a steal of a deal for me. :)

Right on, thanks for the post! :D I'm more concerned about actual usage than results, so hearing that you're not seeing any real speed differences is very heartening!

Yea.. I'm seeing identical results, or within millisecs of the 7200rpm drive that I had.

Right now I'm running Parallels with my XP Virtual machine open, and I just loaded up Photoshop CS3, and it loaded within 9 secs... very acceptable IMO. :D

I'm going to be editing some video this week, so we'll see how it handles that.
