About 50 years ago, some students snuck into the building and did this in the middle of the night:

The guy who took the picture revealed this week what they did figuring the college wouldn't take his degree away by now. All the people involved went on to get Ph.Ds.

Orozco came back to Claremont a few months after finishing the painting, and at that point he gave Prometheus a penis.

But because the original paint had already dried, the addition didn’t adhere well, one of the students who organized the exhibition. On a number of subsequent occasions, pranksters attempted their own additions—bananas and whatnot—but their scotch-taped efforts only ended up removing more of what Orozco had added.
