the Shark was between 16 to 18' so I'm guessing it was a Great White. They are plentiful in the area due to the large Sea Lion population.

Shark probably just took a bite, realized it wasn't his normal food, and quit.

Unfornately, one bite from a 18' shark will kill you instantly.

It was most likely a Great White, that's near where I used to live and there are known breeding grounds around there, it's not uncommon to see one, though not as often in the shallower waters like the sharks you get in Florida, etc.

About once every year or two one of them gets screwed up and swims up one of the rivers, a 10'+ shark isn't what you want to see under your rubber raft. :Q
