It smells like SCAM to me. Sorta like offers for "2.9cents/min Long Distance..........direct dial, no fees"

I thought you got the $50 bond for signing up for $1.00

You can cancel in first 30 days though.

But it might be a scam also.

I don't really know.

Note the EXPIRED Verisign Secure Site cert. Not sure what that's worth.

The pic shows a Series EE savings bond. They are sold for half the maturity amount. ($25 here) I also believe they are guarenteed to be worth at least the maturity amount within 10 years, and stop earning interest after 30 years.
