I'm looking for some freeware data recovery, b/c R-Studio demo doesn't recover files greater than 64kb.

man, all that time spent......:(

EDIT: I got the data back, but all the file names are all messed up ( ie: "filo.mov" for .mov files)? Is there software that can repair the file names?

Wait...wait...I think I hear something....yep, that's the world's smallest violin playing just for you.

Backing up is a good thing. ;)

I really hate hearing these stories guys... You are scaring me. Every day I get more and more worried that one of my disks in my RAID array will eat itself.

the free ones almost all suck....Pc Insector is the onyl one that comes to mind but i haven't used it in ages. Check download.com (type in data recovery, or undelete) and check the "free" license option for a listing of available proggies.

I'd personally suggest just jumping on kazza, irc, or an app site to download something a little more robust and reliable (ontrack's programs are good, as is SpinRite). but hey, that's just me.

I've been using R-Studio, so its still there. But I can't recover my larger files. I've checked download.com, but they all seem to suck it.

If your time is worth much to you, pay for a good recovery program.

You'll pull your ass out of the fire now, and have it in the future as well.

Try a program called FileScavenger from Quetek.com
Costs $40 but it's probably one of the most powerful AND easiest to use.

Have ahd that happen to me way too often lately: a 20Gb drive died taking 17Gb animé with it, then a 40Gb taking about 35Gb animé, then a 60Gb where I luckily had recognized the symptoms in advance and had moved the contents to other drives. All of them IBM and now my main-disc (also IBM) is beginning to show the same symptoms so I've got a new Seagate as replacement and is backing up my system so I'm prepared this time.
Yeah, I'm a bit irritated at IBM :|

Btw. does anybody know a program other than Ghost that'll let me mirror a partition onto another drive?
