Didn't think I'd ever see it, but it came. The check was actually for $47.64, and is from the BUY.COM LITIGATION SETTLEMENT FUND.

Everyone who placed an order for that cheap Hitachi monitor years back should be receiving their checks soon.

You got enough for a decent meal out, and you got some lawyer a massive payday. Congratulations being a crybaby and a victim paid off for you. I'm sure lawyers hope there are plenty more spineless people out there so they can get that extra Yacht they always wanted.

I completely agree with him, and I did get in on the deal.

What an a$$. Don't you have somewhere better to post? I hopped in on the deal because I NEEDED 2 19" monitors. After I realized that Buy.Com cancelled all of our orders (with the exception of the first few who actually had theirs shipped), I looked into other monitors. I ended up buying 2 Sony 19" monitors a few weeks later from Buy.Com for $550 each.

I'm glad for the settlement. If others wanted more, then they would have to get up out of their Lay-Z-Boy and do something about it. Lawyers have the opportunity to clean house on a class action suit because people can't fend for themselves - so they have to pay a price to belong ... or, go along with the lawsuit. I looked into what would be involved and determined that I didn't have the time or effort to proceed with taking on Buy.Com in small claims court. However, now that the checks are arriving, I'll welcome what I can get.

For those who feel bad about receiving the checks, then, please contribute the money to your favorite charity - I'm sure the $47 will do wonders for the cause.

Some of us won't. A friend and I went the private small claims route. They offered settlements to virtually everyone who did. He and I have been enjoying our settlement for a long time.

He can't post this, but since the monitors were ordered on his card, he was the one who filed the suit and settled, so I'm not bound by the NDA.

Congrats to everyone who finally won their point through this route. For all the crybaby antics I have seen in Hot Deals, since then, I still believe this was one of those cases where the result is correct and well deserved. :)

Whats the lawyers cut of this type of deal these days? 25% or is it 33%?

Guess who ends up paying for these massive class-action cases? It's not a free lottery I guarantee you, we all pay for the cry-baby 'victims' and we all pay for the leech of society lawyers.
