5 year old kid takes parents car in attempt to buy a Lamborghini

Most kids his age play with toy cars, but a 5-year-old Ogden boy opted for the real thing.

A day after he took the wheel of his parents’ SUV and headed down the freeway — only to be stopped by a trooper who wondered why the car was weaving and going just 32 mph — Adrian Zamarripa got his wish of cruising in a Lamborghini.
With both parents at work Monday, Estrada was watching the child when she became sleepy and took a midday nap.

That’s when Adrian grabbed the keys to his family car from a hook in their Ogden home and sneaked out about noon. When she awoke to find the car had vanished — along with the keys and the boy — a panicked Estrada called her father.

Joel Zamarripa said he did not initially suspect that his son made a getaway. He rushed home and was searching for the boy when police called.
“He had the courage to just go after what he wanted, you know?” said Neves, who took his own maiden joyride at age 12. “He didn’t have the skill set, let alone the size to drive a vehicle, and he figured it out.”
Great life lesson there folks.

"Yeah, he could have killed someone, but dangit, he took some real initiative by doing that!". 🙄

Yeah - Honestly not sure how to feel about this hah. You would think parents should be at fault?

Then again, how old was the stupid sister? At what age does ATOT think an older sibling should be able to watch a 5 year old? What age should a kid be able to stay home alone?

Oh wait I did something sort of similar when I was 3 lol. I managed to get in the car and put in neutral (I'm guessing without the keys? I can't remember). Ended up reversing out of our driveway and sitting in the middle of the neighborhood road for a while lol. Good thing it wasn't a populated road.

The kid has good taste. No face mask, and hugging the kid though? During the pandemic.

That was still very nice of the lambo driver to give the kid a ride in his car. That kid is big for a 5 year old.

I saw that in the news last night. I think.
Its funny to most of you but to kids like me its more terrifying. My father beat me regularly so I never would have had the guts to try some shit like that.
Anyone else living boring sad lives because of regular beatings? I'm sure plenty of men here are like me but I sometimes wonder if theres a woman or two who had a similar childhood.

.... Not defending (nor endorsing, or acting as if I know how bad you mean it) "beatings"... but.... It helped keep you alive apparently?

This kid was by all means is lucky. To the point where he basically had a 1/9999999 chance of surviving that. You're talking a 5 year old (whom I would guess was standing up without a seat-belt) swerving on a freeway where people are going 70+ mph. That kid's probability of dying was pretty much 99%.

Back before cars had locking steering wheels my oldest brother would regularly roll the family truckster around the grocery store parking lot while my mom shopped. He was about ten at the time. Us younger kids though it was fun.

When I first saw the story, I thought the kid was lucky to be alive and hadn't seriously hurt/killed someone. However, when I was a kid I did some really stupid shit as well.

I only decided to post it here when I saw this kid was rewarded with a joy ride in a Lamborghini. I mean how in the hell did his parents allow this to happen? If one of my boys did what this kid did, they sure as hell wouldn't be out having fun in a Lamborghini days later.

It's Utah. They really aren't afraid of COVID there. I think that they were one of the few states that never implemented a lockdown.

Some one needs to sit this kid down and explain to him the true cost of ownership of a supercar.

I mean, come on - At 5 years of age he should have thought this through.

His odds of making it to the freeway to begin with were like 1 in 10 to begin with. This is a pretty damn smart (or lucky) 5 year old.

I'm with JTsyo, I don't understand how.

1. His feet can reach the pedals.
2. He can turn the wheel at the same time
3. He can see at all where he is going.

If #1 and #2 are true, he would have to ducked down so much that he wouldn't be able to see the road?

That kid looks pretty big for a 5 (almost 6) year old. But, yeah, the police officer thinks that he couldn't really see over the steering wheel all that well.

theres billions of live people running around planet earth who didnt get beatings on a regular basis.

Forget where I read it earlier but I saw a quote from the LEO which read something like this:

"he was a larger 5 year-old"

Ya think ?!? 😀

Yeah and WTH a Lambo ?!? 😡

Everyone knows the only Italian supercar worth a crap is Ferrari !!!

😉

Personally, I think that Alfa Romeo's are totally unappreciated. I'd rather have a Giulia QUADRIFOGLIO as a daily driver.

Have to admit that is a pretty hilarious situation. That kid has a bright future and is going places. (maybe jail) Glad no one got hurt though, this could have ended badly.

Seriously though have to give him credit for even being able to know to operate a car. Most 5 year olds would have no idea. And the fact that he even pulled over for the cops! lol. Like how many 5 year olds would even know about any of the concepts involved here.
