I am buying a somewhat high-dollar Lian Li PC-X900 case, because
it's layout is absolutely perfect for what I need, and I have been looking
for an case that I would like for years.

It comes with 5 x 120mm blue LED fans in it, 3 intake and 2 exhaust.
Knowing Lian Li, the supplied fans will be somewhat low-end, not that
quiet, and I also don't care for LED's. I know that I can defeat the LED's
but I plan to replace them all.
I am using 2 x 120mm NOCTUA NF-P12-1300's for my Megahalems.

Would 5 of these be a good solution for the case, or is there a better
NOCTUA fan to use?

I would like good cooling and as quiet as possible.

Yes, buy the extra NH-P12 fans. They are the best fans out there, even if their color is strange.

I have 2 on my NH-U12P and another one as an exhaust fan, and it's great.

Their static pressure is very high too.

Open air fan... you wont notice any difference with using cheaper Yates Loons.
DSL's is what i would select if you want a quiet fan.

If that cheap price tag worries you, have no fear, you can get the rebranded versions here:
http://www.nexustek.nl/NXS-nexus120mmrealsilentcasefan.htm

But u will end up paying 3x the price for a rebranded Yate, just for the name, and 0 performance upgrade. :p
So just get the Yate.

For an Air sink / Radiator, i will toot, Scythe Gentle Typhoons.
They have one of the best noise to static ratio's out there.

If you dont mind your hearing, a San Ace is about the best you can get, but its 38mm thick and loud.

I agree with this, im running 3 yate DSL 120mm's in my Antec 300, and with the top Antec 140mm at full speed they keep my i7@4Ghz nice and cool. Yate DSL's are hard to beat in CFM/noise/price.

1.) You are saying that the Nexus Real Silent is the same as the Yate Loon? I have used the Real Silent and haven't the fan blades been totally redesigned? The Real Silent were really silent, but they don't move a lot of air compared to the Noctua without one of the two resistors.

As for the San Ace, yes, I very much mind my hearing, that is why I said I wanted a quiet setup.

Really, I just wanted to know if there was a more appropriate Noctua than the NF-P12.

I agree with this, im running 3 yate DSL 120mm's in my Antec 300, and with the top Antec 140mm at full speed they keep my i7@4Ghz nice and cool. Yate DSL's are hard to beat in CFM/noise/price.

But they are louder than the fan that I asked about, am I wrong?

They are pretty much the same, they are both 1300rpm. I own a P12 that came with my heatsink and its about the same db as the yates, and moves about the same amount of air. The yates are just alot cheaper.

From Nexus's website:
Model number:

D12SL-12 (Black/White version)

D12SL-12 OR (Orange version)
Dimensions:
120x120x25mm
Voltage:
12 Volts

Voltage Range:
6.5 ~13.8 Volts

Input Current:
0.30 Amp Max

Rotation Speed:
1000 RPM (+/-10%)

Now the Yate Loon:
http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-120mm-Case-Fan-D12SL-12-pr-3009.html

Model: D12SL-12
Dimensions:120x120x25mm
Rated Voltage: 12 Volts
Operation Voltage: 6.5~13.8 Volts
Input current: 0.30 Amp Max
Operation temperature: -10 to +65 C

So yes if the Nexus Fan says D12SL its a Yate Fan Period.

the nexus only has a resistor to make sure that fan always runs @ 7v.

The same can be said if you put them on controllers.

So just get the yate.

Trust me, you can buy us all coffee from with the price difference as a thank you for showing u the nicest budget / performance / noise fan.

:sneaky:

You dont need static for open air fans.
You need static for a air sink or rad.
If you want static, you cant get better then a scythe GT for that noise level.

How about the Air Penatrators from Silverstone? I plan to either get this case or the FT01 and put APs in them.
