5 Television Shows I Just Don't Get

Ok, I'm not going to bash them. So maybe someone can explain them to me, but here are 5 shows I do not either understand or understand why they're entertaining.

1. Lost - What the crap is going on this show? What is it about? In the start, I thought it was about some guys lost on a deserted island. Then I started seeing machines and computers on the island, so I thought they maybe found an alien space command center or something or secret government computer. Now I tune in tonight and there are other people and everyone is wearing beige suits for some reason, what are they janitors or in jail? Everytime I watch this show, I get the same result: "what the crap is going on?"

2. Desperate Housewives - What do people get out of this show. The over the top drama and stereotypes are so ridiculous and so absurd how can anyone take this seriously. Every week someone is cheating on someone, someone is hiding something, someone doing something mischevious, or something is getting in some trouble. Drama for the sake of drama? I seriously think daytime soap operas are more believable because at least they don't pander to the "suburban housewife who on the outsides looks get but hides a secret" stereotype to blantently.

3. Dancing With the Stars - Ballroom dancing? Seriously? What is it, 1940? How is watching B- level celebrities dance the same moves over and over week after week entertaining? I could imagine this would have been a good one time show, like a special. But how can this not get old?

4. All the Crime Shows - I'll make this one short. How can other people's misery be considered your entertainment?

5. Heros - This is about the corniest show ever. It's basically a rip off of X-Men except for adults. What grown adult watches a show like this? I would imagine this might be popular for older kids, like something they graduate after watching the X-Men cartoons and Power Rangers. But it's on prime time.

So this doesn't sound too negative, I'll list some shows that get bashed but I enjoy watching from time to time:

American Idol (only the early auditions where Simon says humorous things)
Biggest Loser (interesting to see people's struggles with weight and what they can do if they put their mind to it)
The Amazing Race (this show is cool, enough said)

the only one out of those I watch is Lost sometimes. That said - 24 is the best show since the X-Files. I do not miss 24.

Ok tell me. What is lost about? Where are they? Why do they wear those beige suits? Are they really lost?

Ok, I'd also like to add South Park. I'd say the average IQ of the average South Park viewer is about 82, and GED's are most common.

Lost is a show you need to watch about every episode, or you will get lost as well.

The beige suits are the dharma suits. Do you even know what dharma is? Probably not. How about you watch a show before you bash it.

*head falls on desk*

I have watched the show, maybe once every 6 months or so. Dharma is a Indian philosophy, I don't know how to that applies to white people on a deserted island who operate an alien command center.

SOUTH PARK OWNS.

The episode where Randy becomes an alcoholic is amazing.

"Stan, I'm very sick! Get your dad another beer..."

To be honest, I'm sure it is very funny. But it is so juvenile, so stupid, I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but I honestly feel "stupid" and just generally so apathetic towards everything important after watching it I seriously cannot function, like somehow I feel the urge to smoke a doobie and go to an ICP concert or spray paint a wall or ride a skateboard like I was a bully in high school or something.

Way to miss the entire point of the show! 😀 Seriously, it's *supposed* to be a parody of soap operas, that's why everything is so over the top. For the record, a friend of mine got me hooked on the show in season 2, and it's awesome... great writing, sensible plot arcs that actually *move*, and always lots of stuff going on... three things that crap shows like Lost don't have.

I honestly watch the show because it's stupid. Sometimes I feel better when I watch something that is very dumbed down. An occasional serving of children's television (like Foster's Home for Imaginary Animals or the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on Cartoon Network) really cheers me up if I've had a long day.

Edit: BTW, I'm 23 and I have a bachelor's degree with either a law degree or MBA coming in the next 3 years. Momma didn't raise no GED go getter!

And BTW, who the hell wants to watch fat people lose weight? People trying to sing? Or people running around in foreign cities?

Well the first few shows of American Idol are usually decent and the only ones I watch just to see the idiots try to sing and I have seen a few of the race ones and they tend to be a bit of hit or miss but some are decent when they do a lot of traveling and you see the area.

I was just showing how stupid i can make anything sound, even the most popular shows.

Possibly because it isn't an alien command center, for a start.
