I have no particular reason to be looking to replace my Nexus 5, I was just having a look around to see if the selection has changed. It seems to me that if I want a phone screen that is less than 5 inches in size, I have to take a massive resolution downgrade (at least when I looked at what Samsung phones Amazon UK are selling).

I picked up a Pixel because it was the smallest decent 1080P phone on the market.

I have the same question. My oneplus one broke after two years. I'm borrowing my co-worker's old Nexus 5 and don't miss the real estate. It seems like the larger phones are cheaper -it's hard finding a smaller phone with similar specs and price.

Resurrecting an 'old' thread because I thought some people might be interested: I found the phone finder tool on the gsmarena website which allows you to do quite specific and flexible search parameters, so here's a list of phones from 2016-2017 with 1080p and a max of a 5" screen. I also added a minimum of 2GB RAM.

http://www.gsmarena.com/results.php...00&nDisplayResMax=2073600&fDisplayInchesMax=5
It's been a while since I spent much time at either site, so offhand I don't recall if GSMArena is literally limited to GSM phones (or ended up branching out) but if so, and if CDMA phones are of potential interest as well, Phonescoop has similar search functionality, and covers both.
