5 months later, it's time to get broadband again.

I am surprised I lasted so long resisting the compulsion to get broadband, but I've realized that saving $30 month is not worth it considering every single session of surfing the net at home results in at least a mild level of frustration. Dialup sucks, but a lot of that is because too many websites these days assume that people have broadband. Graphics are just huge and useless in a lot of cases.

Now I can get back to playing sexbox live too!

I understand your frustrations. While trying to surf the net at my buddy's place the other day, I quickly became frustrated at the slowness ... not to mention is was AOHell.

Congrats on switching back to BB ...

Welcome back to the fast side 🙂

I have just last month gone from crappy unreliable 600/128 cable, which at times was slower and more unreliable than dialup, to 1024/256 ADSL, much much nicer 😀

well wish me luck...i just terminated my connection. Got tired of having to buy cable tv as well. But i can take my laptop to school.

i was on 28.8 from 1997-99
T1 from 1999-2002
DSL 2002-???

after the T1 i made a promise to myself to never get dialup again...if i can help it.
my parents still use dialup, it frustrates me to no end.

I made that same promise to myself some time ago, but when we moved I was forced to go dialup. A month later BB was available but I just kept the dialup for a bit more.

You know, I've been trying to figure this out for a while. I can't remember the number but the percentage of Americans who have broadband (at home) is relatively small. Therefore, why do the web design geeks build pages that do nothing but piss of the people viewing them?

True. Most are on dialup, but I guess they are probably just used to it. Perhaps 56k was always this slow but I don't think that that is the case.
You don't tie up a phoneline, and most respectable dial up ISP's are upwards of 20 bucks.
I'm using bigzoo, which is $6-9/month depending on the package for 150 hours. I'm pretty happy with them. Never busy and good solid strong connections. I would recommend them (if you need dialup, which I'd not recommend).

What is Mrs Skoorb's take on this? Broadband may provide a strong incentive to spend less time with her.
