5 inch LCD mod - anyone done this???

Here is a page showing someone adding a 5" lcd to the front of their case...

It's really cool and the LCD can be had for $120. The problem is that this page is pretty sketchy - I'd like more detail before I actually try it.

I was thinking about doing this to one of my old PCs so that I could control it with just a power cord, keyboard & mouse.

Has anyone done this? Can I run this as my primary display from a Video card with TV out? If so, can I run at 800x600 - it says the vertical resolution is only 320... it's a little confusing - any help would be greatly appreciated

I haven't done it but I can answer some of your questions. If your video card will boot using only a TV attached to the tv-out then you can use it as your primary display. All ATI cards will do this, some nvidia-based cards will but many will not. So check first!

As far as resolution goes, the resolution set on your video card has nothing to do with the resolution fed through the tv-out. The resolution of the tv-out is ALWAYS the same, regardless of what your desktop resolution is set at. WHAT???? That's right! The tv-out ALWAYS supplies a standard NTSC video signal (which is always approx. 640x480). Basically, the tv-out takes a picture of the display every 1/60th of a second and sends it out as NTSC video. It doesn't really work quite that way but hopefully you get the idea of how the 2 resolutions can be different.
