5 Horrifying Tales of 911 Incompetence

a couple years back, someone in the town where my parents live got murdered while pounding on the police department doors 😱

This is one reason why I own a gun.

And you are one reason why I voted democrat.

You sound sulky. I hear shooting guns is great therapy. 😀

I love guns. I support our right to own the majority of them. I just think it was a really lame comment. He owns a gun because of some bad 911 operators? How are the two even correlated? So if 911 operators were better he would sell his guns and feel more safe? Likewise if we had no 911 service would he feel more safe if you own one of these?

No, he owns a gun because the response to emergency is not always immediate, and in some cases, completely absent.

Take the sleeping 911 operator call for instance. When someone taps on my windows they hear a shotgun being racked. Nine times out of eleven the tapping will stop due to the very distinct sound created by racking a shotgun.

FYI this has happened to me IRL minus the 911 call.

Also, notice the way I phrased my sentence.

"This is one reason why I own a gun." I guess people have to be beaten over the head with it. Would it make more sense if I had said, "This is one of many reasons why I own a gun"?

There are many. One is that emergency services are not always immediate and 100% reliable. Another is that it's just a fun hobby to shoot.

Also, I have always voted Democrat.

Funny article, but I am so god damn fucking sick of this "2 pages for a 5-item list" bullshit that every second website is pulling.

ME TOO

Forbes is pretty bad about this too. I just refuse to read some of their lists.

Newsflash: 911 dispatchers are people too.

#3 shouldnt be any longer. that fucker was out of line.

If I were trying to get help for my father, having a seizure on the floor and some prick pulled that on me, I'd be tempted to do the same thing as she did... show up at the police station. The exception being that I would be there to burn the place to the ground.

I remember when the #1 thing happened.

I thought it was a hilarious joke. I mean, the mom calls 911 because she can't control her daughter, and the operator makes his joke.

I got a laugh. I should send him a letter of commendation to offset the letters of reprimand he got.

The only really bad one was the operator that hung up on the woman getting beaten.
