I shall preface this by stating I have never had 5 Guys before... (I haven't even had 1 Guy before)

Critique:
- Burger itself has decent cooked flavor.
- Texture wasn't the greatest, a little overcooked.
- Roll was soggy (steamed? or possibly because this was catered and it sat in a sealed foil wrapper + a sealed foil tray for an indeterminate amount of time).
- Size/content was a little lacking. I like my meat big and dripping with goodness... :)wub: yes I went there)

All in all, it seemed slightly above ordinary. It had a more "home-cooked" flavor to it which I liked. Portion size was inadequate for the typical American fatty, but good for people like me. It seemed a little bit overcooked/dry, but not like a hockey puck.

I'd pay ~$1.49 for a burger like that, nothing more. That means yeah, I'd eat it again, but it's nothing special.

It's a rite of passage.

I guess so.

I like 5 guys more than in and out.

The funny thing about these threads are that most people complain about the 5 guys prices. They say things like in and out is better because they are cheaper. Are they really saying if 5 guys were less expensive then they would like 5 guys better? :hmm:

They suck. The buns are always soggy, even right from the counter. The fries are okay.

In and Out beats them handily. I don't see how anyone really likes Five Guys...pretty shitty for what they are supposed to be.

My complaint about In and Out is that the burgers are small and usually leave a bloody after taste in my mouth. Maybe they are not cooking them long enough at the one I go to. I don't like their fries either. However their shakes are the best!

So for me 5Guys wins on burgers and fries and In and Out wins only on shakes. Since I don't really drink a lot of shakes then I prefer 5 Guys. (also they are generally faster with their service)

You can also just order Five Guys online and it will be ready when you get there. Less human interaction... decent food... what's the downside? :p

That's how I feel about In 'N' Out which I had again a week or so ago in attempt to understand the love. It was ok, but only ok and only a slight step-up from McDonald's.

That would seem to be your problem.

Perhaps you should go try them in person before you give them a review.

2 places who's success puzzles the shit out of me. Five Guys & Fat Burger. I'm not sure which is more overrated. And both are stupidly overpriced for what you get. Yeah INO has tiny patties, that's why you order a 4x4 or 6x6.

their burgers are like $6. Did you mean you won't eat there again?

And why would anyone care about your opinion on 5 guys when there's a new thread about it every other day?

What I understood the bolded to mean was he would not pay $6 for the burger, since he could get an equally good burger elsewhere for $1.49. So he'd just go elsewhere to get the burger.

When was Fat Burger ever highly rated?

Fat Burger's constantly ranked among the top burger places in Cali, and the few I've been too were always packed. If it wasn't for INO they'd be #1 in Cali. I don't get the popularity, but people love that place.

Bobby's Burger Palace really needs to expand into more areas, so people know what a proper burger should taste like.

And you, my friend, understood perfectly.

I'll just go to Jack's when I want a "decent" fast food burger.

Tried it for the first time today in DC. Burger wasn't bad, but I definitely prefer IN-N-Out. INO's buns are almost perfectly crispy with how they toast them, they go generously on the veggies (I love all my veggies on my burgers), and it's cheap, so if I want more meat or cheese I can alway add more and it'll still be cheaper than 5 guys. 5 guys still wasn't bad.

The 5 guys fries just tasted like standard fries. I love INO's fries personally, they have like a really potatoey, natural flavor that I imagine not everyone loves or grew up with.

Wierd, I must have frequented the worst ones then when I lived in SoCal, I don't think I ever saw more than 3 or 4 people in the place. But I would agree, it IS way better than InO. :)
