Nothing. S.C. says that I have to protect my child. Yours...not.

I’d be curious if what they did could be prosecuted in any state, and if so with what?

Karma will catch up to them eventually. Everyone deserves redemption but damn they’ll need a lot of it.

Looks like they're on the right track.... Age old, youth wasted on the young. Wisdom, not so much.

"callous" is a pretty gentle adjective.

"devoid of humanity" is what I would have said. I can only hope that their parents are utterly ashamed. IMO I'd strongly consider disowning any little shit of mine for doing something like that, not that it would absolve me of my own guilt for not raising them in a decent fashion.

In the state's position I think I would have arranged a public shaming for the kids, perhaps making sure that everyone and their dog knows when the kids are leaving the police station etc.

Their identities should definitely be blasted to the public and their parents' identities too. If there is no law that can put them in jail, then public shaming is the only thing left.

I would agree with that 200%, but since they are legally minors this cannot happen. This is perhaps among the most disgusting stories I've heard of recently, only the couple who shacked those kids in California seems worse.

To be fair, there's a good chance people like this can change their behavior if nothing other than by brain development for which the frontal lobe (very relevant here) stops developing around age 25.

Doesn't make their actions here any less despicable.

They are bad people, but not criminals. They just don't give a shit. It's not much different than Republicans cutting health coverage from people with pre-existing conditions. They know there is a chance some will die as a result, but are OK with it.
