5 fan setup in a case

Hi guys,

From what I've heard so far, the best way to set 5 fans in a case is to:
- Have the two in front as intake
- Have the one at the side and two at the back below the psu as exhaust

However,

1. Won't dust settle in from the front though?
2. Because the stock CPU fan is (I think) blowing towards the stock heatsink for an athlon 2600, won't the side fan which is directly above the cpu limits the effectiveness of the cpu fan?

Any suggestions?

1) Dust shouldn't be a problem if you filter the fans. You can get anything from aluminum mesh filters, to pantyhose, to cheap air conditioner filter from Home Depot, to other filters.

2) No. Or at least it shouldn't. The side fan should pull in cool air from outside the case and blow it towards the CPU fan, which should, in turn, blow the cooler air onto the heatsink. If the fans are too close you might have trouble with turbulance and such, but if they are far enough apart (like the distance from the CPU fan to the case wall) you should be fine.

filter + positive pressure = no dust😛filter lowers effectiveness of fan, so more filtered intakes required to balance.

if you feel nutz you can duct the side intake to your cpu cooler to feed fresh air to it. laundry dryer exhaust ducting works and is easy to work with.

Best five fan hole setup:
PSU fan in back
Fan under PSU fan. Slow mofo.
Fan for HDs (intake).
Duct tape other holes.

no, its better to fill em all and run em slow. rear exhaust, side intake front intake. get a fan speed controller. wind tunnel in summer, or during overclocks, and ultra quiet when its cool.
