before I get back from work, did anyone try the 5.9s? Differences? Improvements?
I'm gonna give it a shot tongiht when I get back, results will be posted

i get graphics tearing and I can't find my previous version 🙁 it had the same format as the new update but I can't find it (its not 5.8)

word is that it took a chomp out of the higher memory cards in terms of lower performance after installation.

Edit: oops, it was the 5.8 cats that were the problem, maybe this set fixes them.

I just got 5.9 and I did a quick 3DMARK05 bench and my old score was 4710, my new score is 4752! Woohoo, i got some more FPS. But now to try out BF2 with it. 🙂

hurry back! 😛

Ok, with almost everything on medium, AAx2 and all the dynamic stuff turned off and at 1024*768. On a 64 player map, Sharqi Peninsula, with 48/48 people, my fps never went below 40. '

Lol, and saying "Hurry back" while someone is playing BF2 is like an oxymoron.

Like, it went lower then 30 FPS.

Slightly faster across the board than 5.8 but still the same bugs in a few applications. Except Quake 2 where performance has really tanked.

I installed it on my other system (It has an ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB), and it gained 87 points in 3DMark05 over my best Catalyst 5.8 score. The score is now 2761. It was around 2550 when I had Catalyst 5.7, if I recall correctly.

So, in my case, it maintains a constant performance upgrade at each new versions. Not by a lot, but it is technically noticeable in benchmarks.

And I had no visual issues nor artifacts during game-play in the recent 3-D games I've tested, including Battlefield 2, and the AOE III Demo.

i was mainly looking for just bf2 improvements, so far nothing has made it worse, so i consider it an improvement!

They fixed the java plugin blank screen problem. Was driving me crazy as I didn't realize it was vid driver related. Very nice to have it fixed!

my 3DMark05 score went up 170 points
Fear's IQ seems to have improved with the same game and CCC settings and seems just a bit smoother.
BF2 seems the same.

BF2 @ 12*9 with everything at high except lighting and dynamic shadows set to medium with 2TAA, 4AF, Vsync and all options in the CCC set to quality my fps never drop below 40ish, before I think they would hit the high thirtys at times but after playing through hurricane rita I have definatly noticed that my rates are just a bit higher.
