5.8 GHz phones and 5 GHz 802.11n: Interference?

I'm looking in Wikipedia and it says that 5 GHz WiFi in North America is 5.1 GHz to 5.8 GHz.

Is it a significant issue if I have 5.8 GHz phones?

Yes, because a lot of 5.8ghz stuff in the US isn't certified to use anything outside of ~5735 thru ~5865. There are two other ranges of frequencies that can be used, but they tend to cause interference with other crap that's already been deployed (dopler radar is the big one). And, even if none of it that is still in use, the FCC is stupid slow in actually opening up those frequencies for general use.

Yes, it's stupid.

However, in a home environment, it won't be a significant issue, really.

Hmmm... I have to do some testing, but my GF is on the phone a lot. I have a DECT 6.0 setup (which are 1.9 GHz), but my main phones are 5.8 GHz. I guess the good news is that DECT 6.0 phones are not expensive these days so if absolutely necessary I could get new ones.

Has anyone else here encountered significant problems in the real world with these 5.8 GHz phones, for home use?

I've definitely encountered problems with 2.4ghz phones and 2.4ghz wi-fi. Before I got rid of them every time the phone was in use the wi-fi would become inoperable or dog slow.
