Prayers and support to the people of this community.

10 confirmed dead.

137 confirmed Tornadoes with this monster big enough to be captured on Satelite pic.

My wife will confirm I saw this thing as it spun up, captured pic and declared it an F5 long before the NWS did.

It was a monster.

There is no Government response of heavy equipment because it is all in Iraq.

Just like promised to re-build New Orleans?

5-7-2007 Bush promises help for Kansas town flattened by tornado

US President George W. Bush on Sunday vowed to deliver federal aid to rebuild a tornado-ravaged town in Kansas where at least 10 people were killed by a wave of giant twisters.

The president's offer of help came as rescue teams scoured the rubble of schools, homes and shops in a bid to find survivors after the storm flattened the small southwestern Kansas community of Greensburg on Friday, killing eight people and injuring more than 60.

Two other people were dead as a result of storms in other nearby communities, media reports said.

"I'm confident this community will be rebuilt. To the extent we can help, we will," the president said

Bush hailed the "pioneer spirit" that built the Midwest, and which he said Kansans would draw upon to rebuild, with government support.

"It's going to take a long time for the community to recover. And so we'll help in any way we can," the US president said.

The White House said the disaster declaration makes federal funding available to affected individuals across Kiowa County, where Greensburg is located, for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other relief

Sad to see. My condolences to the residents. Honestly though, we shouldn't let them rebuild there considering another tornado is bound to level their town sometime soon. I mean, given the reaction on the right to Katrina/New Orleans, it follows logically, yeah?

Probably about as good as this:

5-7-2007 Four soldiers and a policeman arrested for looting in Greensburg

Four soldiers from Fort Riley and a reserve police officer were arrested Sunday on suspicion of looting cigarettes and alcohol from a Greensburg store, state officials said.

The soldiers weren't assigned to help in Greensburg, but police had allowed them to move freely because they were in uniform, said Sharon Watson, a spokeswoman for the Kansas adjutant general's office.

I'm confused, your close to Kansas now? Maybe you meant something else. Put you live in Georgia right? So Kansas is a good say 900 miles away as the crow flies. This torando touched down over a stretch of 22 miles. Let's be nice and say you can see the horizon at 50 miles in Kansas. So, how is it you were close enough to see it spin up and take a pic? And if you did, where is the pic? What were you doing in Kansas in the first place?

Dave, I didn't know you moved. Your personal page still says Georgia. I presume you moved to Oklahoma? From your post you must be due south of Greenburg (or the distances get even longer). That makes it Woodward Oklahoma. If your 32 miles from the border, and Greesburg is 42 miles from the border. You are 74 miles away. Even saying the Torrando ran in a straight light from closest to you to further, it puts it as 52 miles away (74 miles to Greenburg - 22 miles it ran, this also presumes it stopped in Greenburg).

I'm honestly having trouble understanding how you saw a funnel cloud touch down 52 miles away (again presuming you actually now line n Woodward). Perhaps you can eleaborate more, I'm sure I'm simply misunderstanding you.

Wow you don't keep up.

I moved from Georgia in June 2004 after Donna divorced me and moved to New Orleans where I proceeded to nearly be killed in Katrina crap. Then moved to Denver for a year and now Oklahoma.

Thats a bit different from 'I saw it spin up', but explains what you meant. Have you considered not overdramatizing your stories? Your post was fine but then you gave an impression you saw this live, and you had to know you'd be called on it.

I do remember you where in Katrina (why I'd be happy if you never posted again, on the same veign, for the record, I'm happy you were safe). Didn't know about Denver or OK. Some great areas in OK (have family in HW Ark, about 2 hours east of OK, so drive thru there alot).

Yes, I am so glad we have you MS Painting red boxes with clouds that are shaped like...clouds, and translating doppler radar signals declaring F5s. I am sure everybody in Tornado Alley feels soo much better that plethorically meteorlogically trained Dave Mcowen is on the prowl.

How many Tornados have you've seen on Sat?

The Sat pic looks a lot better than the doppler pic

Who knows, Daves location changes with the wind, I think he is Darth Cheney being moved to a secret location daily and pissed off he takes orders from Bush.

He has claimed to live in

NYC
San Fran
New Orleans
Western Oklahoma
And now Kansas.

And dont forget he commutes about 1400 miles to work in Keystone CO.

I was looking at the local radar loop and Sat pic when I pointed out to my wife this storm and spin up.

It was rocking and rolling here and fortunately only got 5 inches of rain out of it and some high winds and hail but nothing like just west of us.

That's "live" enough.

Your "sat" pic is nothing but another cloud puff. I see no evidence of anything there. The doppler pic makes much more sense.

I personally had a rather large funnel cloud fly over me when I was a junior in HS in MN. My dad and I were grilling outside when the sirens went off. 5min later a large funnel cloud, not too far off the ground (maybe 150ft) went over the house, touched down about .5mi away. It ripped up a half dozen houses. We saw grass swirling.

I was borned and raised 30 miles east of NYC.

Close but I've never been to San Fran.

Last year commuted between Northeast Oklahoma and Denver.

I snowboarded near Keystone.
