Steam Digital Deluxe Edition adds the following extras on top of the Standard Edition:

Access to the final phase of closed beta before the September 13th launch
Day 1 Unlock of the Elite Assault Weapons (MKb 42(H) and AVT-40) and Semi Auto Sniper Weapons (SVT-40 and G 41(W):

Team Fortress 2 German and Russian hats ("Genuine" if bought during pre-purchase):
Two new characters for Killing Floor - Russian and German Soldier Re-enactors:

So, apparently not worth it to get this edition.

I keep waiting for the right time to buy Civ 5, but it just is not yet. Maybe when the GOTY Edition 2 that includes Gods and Kings is on sale for ~$10 I'll bite. Until then I'm perfectly happy playing Civ 4 when I get that itch.

Never played a Civ game, anything i need to know if i decide to jump in and try 5 out?

It's so different from all of the previous ones, you really almost can't compare them. It's still Civ at heart, but it's more like a more complex Civilization: Revolutions than an easier Civ IV with different stuff.

I still liked it, although I think Civ 2 was probably the best out the entire series. Civ 3 was pretty good, and Civ 4 without the expansions was pretty decent too. The religions and corporations made it overly complicated and too easy to exploit to the human player's advantage, because the AI was stupid about them even on the highest difficulty levels.

Getting the GOTY edition at that price seems like a steal... if you don't like it, you can always gift it on or trade it.

I may finally reinstall it and pick up a bunch of the DLC at that price.
