Dead Island = Day Z for casuals. :D

Woah, they have Thief 1 & 2 on Steam now? That's awesome. A bit pricey still, considering how old they are, but good games nonetheless.

For my part, I'm going to wait and see if Dead Island drops for Summer Sale. Who knows, maybe we get $9.99 including DLC. How far away are we anyway? Late June last year, right?

Also, Anandtech PC Gaming needs an IRC chat channel for Summer Sale(maybe even permanently).

Late June through the beginning of July is when the Summer Sale takes place (at least the 2 that have happened so far).

I say if you are going to play Dead Island right away, it is worth it at that price. If you aren't going to play it right away, I'd way till the Summer Sale in a little over a month.

I've upped my price for games I really want to play a few bucks from $9.99. Alan Wake, for instance, had been worth every penny of the $14 or so I paid for it.

I've been playing it a lot and I'm only in episode 4. But AW did get pretty good reviews all around, and Dead Island is more of a mixed bag. I think I'm going to wait.

I think my Steam pricing is like this:

$5 or under - grab it unless I know for sure it's a waste.

$5 to $10 - grab it if it's a game that's intrigued me (flawed games with great features such as kick ass graphics often fall here).

$10 to $15 (new category) - I find myself getting games I know I really want to play (like AW) when they drop in here.

I've only bought a few games ever that were higher than that.

If history repeats itself which it tends to do with Steam sales, we will sell a very large percentage of all Steam games on sale. We will also see a pretty fair amount of daily deals which will mark games off even more. Dead Island falls under a daily deal game which will probably be 75% off. It was a daily deal during the holiday sale and it has that awareness of what it is going for it with it being a wanted title still.

I still have Batman AC and D3 to work thru -- i'll wait until the summer sale for Dead Island.

During the Winter Sale, there were 1500-1700 games on sale at any given day.

Dead Island will have to be one of them.

I was really excited about getting dead island, after playing it I regret buying it. Don't bother, save yourself $10 and buy a nice sandwich or something.

Steam is killing me with these sales. I have Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations, Batman Arkham City, Driver San Francisco, Serious Sam 3, Alan Wake and Portal 2 to work through, not to mention Battlefield 3. All in the last two weeks. I think I have a problem...

Isn't it funny that historically, this is exactly what happens?

The last three games I paid full price for were Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, and Skyrim. No more, because in a year they'll be 75% off on Steam and I can wait that year just fine :)

I would only bother with Dead Island Co-op. I played it through one and a half times. A half run through, then a I get what I'm doing now run through. It was fun. Lots of kicking things, not much shooting. I've heard there are some good mods that improve on the combat a lot.

My biggest gripe with it was that dying didn't feel like it had much in the way of consequences. So the game became slightly balls to the wall. Which I guess could be a positive. Didn't feel like a survival game though, more of a hack and slash in 3d.

That said I bought it for $50, and don't regret it. Was a solid 20 hours for me. $11.99 is way worth it with friends. Solid co-op games are few and far between. This was reasonably solid. About as fun as RE5, not as fun as Borderlands.

New egg had dead island on sale for $10 a couple of months ago, and that is when I bought it.

I have only played it for about an hour.

There seems to be some kind of glitch of when a zombie jumps on you, I dont know how to get the thing off. I am hitting every key on my keyboard and nothing happens.

Dead island has a air of its own, the only thing I can compare it to is maybe fallout new vegas, or oblivian. If you want a game you can explore and kill some zombies in, I think its worth $10.

If the game wasn't so damn buggy it'd have been more enjoyable. Don't bother using Logan because half of your weapons disappear when you throw it. And the completely disjointed story that tries to take itself way too seriously really detracts from the whole experience.

Wow, never heard of Day Z before. Looks awesome. Arma2 has always put me off as way to hard core tho...

I quite enjoyed Dead Island. Melee combat was pretty fun.....gun battles not so much.

Nothing like curb stomping zombies.

Recommend that you try Amazon in addition to Steam. I bought SS3 there last week for $9.99 when Steam had it for $40.
