5.1 will no longer work

i came home for break from school and when i setup my computer again at my home, I could only get sound to play through the front speaker channel and sub. nothing changed, but i did reinstall my vid card drivers to see if that would fix the problem. I have a monsoon 505 surround system with a c-media 6 channel 8738 card. What do you think is wrong? Would buying a new card even fix the issue?

Is the card set to do 5.1 still instead of stereo?

What are you checking to do the surround tests? Music generally just comes out the front two speakers and the sub unless you have your soundcard doing something to map the sound to all the speakers.

I don't know what reinstalling your vid card drivers would do... did you try reinstalling your soundcard drivers?

Check your advanced sound settings in the control panel. That's usually it. If not, check the cables, etc. etc. Down the list.
