On my computer I have the Logitech Z680's but I hardly ever make use of the two rear speakers. I did a quick check and I'm thinking they can fetch $200 plus shipping on ebay.

If I do this, will I find a nice 3.1 setup for around the same price? $250 might be feasible

I'd much rather have a more clear 3.1 than the 5.1 setup I have right now, I'm just not satisfied with them because they have a hiss under normal and low volume levels. Oh, I checked on newegg and only saw 2.1 setups, no 3.1, are there not any 3.1 setups?

By the way, I use these mainly for music with occasional gaming but I don't play as much now as I used to

Ok, I'd like a reccomendation on a nice 2.1 setup then

What about going the route of buying a receiver and then speakers?

If you dont want to fish around for receivers and stuff, Klipsch makes some pretty nice computer speakers. I personally have the Promedia Ultra 5.1s and cannot complain. They suit me fine for the amount they costed, and the type of room i live in.

Yup, those are awesome, but I honestly don't want to spend that much, what $350? I'll search around a little more first

A 4.1 will work if you plug the 2 rears into the center channel. But make sure your sound card drivers can handle 3.1. I've seen some that only do 2, 2.1 and 5.1.

Search the deal forums for Z-2200 from logitech, they are 100 speakers and there is a 50 rebate form. 2.1 setup, sound is almost as good as promedia, but they will last you longer (something about promedia using foam.)

I just got mine 2 days ago

I agree, $200 would be a good amount to get, but you'd still be losing quite a bit of cash. I don't think you're going to find a 3.1 package anywhere, and 2.1 would be missing your centre channel. 2.1 is the best for listening to music, though.
