HEy, i have a Aopen AK89 Max mobo, w/ 5.1 onboard sound I want to buy a Logitech X 5.1 surround sound system. In order to connect it, i need to use my micophone slot, which i need. If i get a crappy sound card, can i enable both onboard and this so i could use the speeakers on the onbard and the mic on the sound card? Or is there another way. Thanks

Unfortunately, if you install a sound card, you must disable the on board sound.
But a $15-$20 sound card will be just as good or better that your on board sound.

Here's a cheap one that will do 5.1 and you can use the mic at the same time.

Is there some reason you specifically wanted to use the sound output from your motherboard?

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure in a previous system I used both my onboard sound as well as a soundblaster live value. In fact, I know I used both on my old Athlon XP 1900+ on an ECS K7S5A board.

Careful...I have the same mobo as you, and for exactly the same reason bought the Chaintech 512. Once I finally got it working I discovered the mic port didn't work anyway.
