5.1 Speakers

Well, I've been looking for a decent speaker set for a month now, but can't really find something that would be "just right".

Requirements are:
1) 5.1, decent quality. Not too picky since this is my first 5.1 set
2) Light color
3) Not too high a price (between $100 and $200)

Especially the second requirement is a major drawback since the majority of the speaker sets are in black. I have decided to just buy a set and paint the casings :(
So I'm currently left with:
Logitech X530
Genius SW-HF5.1 3000

I am more inclined to Genius since the fabric over the speakers is silver. That would mean easy painting while the Logitecs seem of higher quality, but practically impossible to paint. The geniuses also have 5.1 / AUX possibility which is just right for me (TV and comp). But the geniuses seem to be of really low quality judging from the pics of the remote and woofer front panel, so they scare me a little.

Does anyone have any experience with the Geniuses? Are they good?
I'm just about to buy them but can't find any decent review :(

Thanks,
Jure

Never heard of the Genius set. How much is that one?

I think I'm confused by requirement #3... the X530s are only like $50 or so.

Oh, didn't catch the Slovenia part.

Normally I'd suggest looking at z-5300s in this range. Again those are black though. Do they have those over where you are?

Yes, they do, but in the mean time i've decided to go for z-5500.
Never believed my wife would approve :)
This set was only in my wildest dreams until this morning when my wife saw the pictures and said OK.
They do cost $400 though :(
:thumbsup:Seems this solves the problem for me :) :D:p:laugh:

Very nice.
I understand your surprise because I just want a $50 headset and my wife said no. :(

The z-5500's are what you want, but they are out of your price range. I would look at the z-5300's for the price range you are working with.

Well, I installed the beast now (the Z-5500). :D:Q:beer::music::wine::laugh::shocked:
I must say I never thought a speaker set would make such a difference!
The sound is so crisp I can hear every friggin' detail :)
I'd rather not even start on the lows, but i can't resist myself :D I can't even hear them, it's just that the room suddenly starts shaking :Q ..... :D
Had to buy some additional cable though. The included ones (3x4,5m + 2x7,5m) were not even remotely close to long enough for my 5x3,5 m living room :)

Not very likely. Transport from the U.S. would cost just as much :(
Besides, where can you get them for $260?

If you are prepared to spend up to $200 - have a look here
I am afraid it is only in German, but you guys in Balkans speak all the speaks of the world anyway :) I checked that you can pick "Slowenien" from the list when placing the order. As it is in EU I do not think there should be any surcharge for shipping...
I know 370Watt RMS is not all that important but still it is 4xmore than Logitechs x530...
+They are not black ;))

Well, like i said, already bought them.
The speakers you suggest look nice (was in fact searching for silver), but i'm a bit worried about quality, and they only have one analog input.
I'm most satisfied with easiness of input switching on the Z-5500. Would be even better if they built in some kind of signal detection, but it's still good for me the way it is now (remote control).
Otherwise these speakers look a lot like the Geniuses i was originally looking at :)

Action t ransc ript :) : (ROTFLMAO, check out the preview when you don't insert the spaces into the second word)
Take her to the store to look at stuff you want to buy. Show her the stuff she will reject due to bad color / whatever other feature she disapproves. LOL, to think I actually WANTED the X-530 :)
Wait a couple of days (max 2 so that she doesn't forget the experience in the store).
Send her an e-mail with pictures of the real thing. Mention all the positives. DON'T mention the price. Beg!
She'll reply something on the positive note and WILL ask about the price.
Reply with the price. Reply again with "Please, with cream and sugar on top".
Have your e-mail servers screw up so that she receives the second e-mail first (This actually happened to me!!!).
Having missed the price tag mail she'll say something like "OK, darling, you have a go", but won't forget to mention that you again forgot to mention the price.
By then, it's to late:evil:. You already have a written permission :)
